Lottery, booming all of a sudden all over the world, attracts all kinds of people.

Nearly everybody, old or young, rich or poor, is right now trying his luck in lottery or is thinking of doing so. Despite many disputes that lottery is receiving, I still assume, personally, that lottery does mere good than harm.

The worst effect caused by lottery, as many socialists indicate, is that it produces in people an idea of _gain without pain'.But at the same time, they neglect one point--it is human nature that people all expect to obtain most while offer least.

The thought of _gain without pain_ is buried in everyone's heart and is not bred by lottery.

Consequently, lottery is innocent in this way. But there still remain a large group of people against lottery, among whom are some lottery addicts. Such people are fond of lottery but unfortunately luck is never fond of them. Finally, they end up in complaining about lottery, declaring the great harm, both psychologically and economically lottery has done to them. In this case, the problem lies in the attitude of people, not lottery.

Since the major two sorts of harm are not lottery's fault, let's have an objective look on lottery. For the society, lottery is the most practical way to accumulate funds. For those who happen to win a large fortune, I think they can't kiss their lottery enough. Also for those who have not a single chance to be lucky dogs, lottery can mutely tell them the truth of _no pains, no gains._

Spare the lottery! It, in itself can do more good than harm.

It is necessary for college students to know the world outside the campus. This is because the society is developing so fast that if we don't keep an eye on what is happening outside the campus, we will have no idea what to learn to keep pace with the development. As a result, it will be difficult for us to secure an ideal job after graduation; it will be impossible for us to contribute to the development of the society.

There are many ways for us to get to know the world outside the campus. First of all, we should be well informed about the happenings both at home and abroad with the help of mass media such as radio, television, newspapers, and the Internet. Moreover, we should do more practical social services so as to cultivate our social skills, widen our insight and enrich our social experience.

As for me, I intend to participate in as many social practices as possible and at the same time, hold a part time job in my spare time to get to know more about the world outside the campus.

Some people believe that economic development should never be at the cost of the environment. They think the present serious environmental problems are largely caused by rapid

economic development. For example, land resources are shrinking because of the industrial development and the expansion of cities. Deserts are spreading because of over grazing, poor fanning, tree cutting, and strip mining. Our air and water supplies are being polluted by poisonous gassesand waste products. It is important, therefore, that we should take another look at the way in which our industries and cities are developing.

However, other people think it unnecessary to consider environmental problems now and our first priority should always be given to economic development. They believe that environmental problems are inevitable and unavoidable in the process of economic development. They are only the by products of economic development, which can be dealt with later when we have the time and money.

I think the second idea is completelywrong. Our ultimate aim in economic development is to provide a comfortable and happy life for our people. What is the point of economic development if we achieve it at the cost of our environment? There has been much evidence to prove that a balance between the two helps more rapid and continuous development.

Nowadays, many people have access to enjoy college education. When it comes to college education, we naturally link it with ones future success. Different people have different opinions about what a role college education plays in the process of someone making success.

Some people insist on that college education is essential to ones future success. It has a great influence on peoples life, since most of knowledge and skills come from college education, and these are major important elements for success. But others think there are not relationship between college education and ones future success. Just like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, they all have dropped out and got great achievement in the future. Moreover, some valuable experience cant be learned in college. Therefore, they argue that college education is essential to ones future success.

Personally, college education is quite vital. It greatly determines ones future success.

Everyone has goals. Many people do not reach their goals for lack of planning. These three sets of goals should be developed: lifetime, intermediate and short term. Lifetime goals should be written out. These goals should be clear and reasonable. For instance, the goal to win a research prize is clear and measurable. Other lifetime goals might include publishing a certain number of influential books or articles, earning a departmental chairmanship at a major university, successfully competing for a grantfromthe National Science Foundation or securing a consultantship with a big corporation.

Intermediate goals relate to outcomes during the next few years. For the beginning doctoral student, intermediate goals may include completion of course work and preparation of a doctoral research proposal. Like lifetime goals, these are measurable and clearly stated.

Short-term goals involve outcomes expected during the next 12 months. These goals are more performance oriented, and they help with achievement of intermediate goals. Examples of short-term goals are earning an A in a course, learning how to program a computer or performing an experiment.

Today, peoples lifestyle pace is very fast and a lot of young people feel the great pressure when they come to the job market. Before I , I started to come to the job market. It was hard for me to get the job I wanted. I got rejected many times, but when the moment I was hired, I felt the victory.

I still remembered the day when I was interviewed. Before I came to the company, I had practised many times and my friends pretended to be the employers, asking me all kinds of questions. So I made some preparations and believed that I wouldnt lose control. At the beginning, the employers asked me some simple questions, which I had prepared, so I felt confident. But when they asked me about the company, I forgot to search enough information. But I told myself to calm down, so I expressed my wish to work here. Two days later, I was informed that I got the job. My heart was beating very fast, just liked I had conquered the world.

The experience of being success helps me to be stronger and gain more confidence.

Some think we should try to help strangers. Helping others is a virtue, and helping others is helping may come across some trouble and need others' help some everyone isn't willing to help us just because we are strangers to them,it's hard to imagine what our world will be ,some are afraid that helping others can sometimes bring us we are just misunderstood and even have to pay the cost of kindness.

In my opinion,we should try our best to help others when they are in need of help, but we should also protect ourselves from getting into everyone tries a little kindness, our world will be full of love.

energy makes the world go, it is indispensible to both animal life and human life. we get heat energy from the food we eat, light energy from the sun and electricity from water. in the hot summer when there ia a power outage we feel all the more the need for electric energy which powers the electric fan md air-conditioner.

there are different sources of energy. the rivers and streams are a good source for electrie energy. the san provides us with light, heat and electricity. there is also sound energy in the radio transformed from electric energy. the energy can be changed from one form to another. it can never be ehausted nor reproduced. it just goes on changing in cycles.

it is important for us to make use of energy. solar energy is being made to generate electricity, to cook and to bathe. atomic energy is used in industry and aviation and many other fields. we are now doing our best to inake energy serve our people in every way possible.

As my high school years were drawing to a close, I turned over and over again in my mind the question of whether I should go to college. At times I did have some doubts. After careful consideration, however, I finally decided it was worthwhile to attend college.

Firstly, because I was always hungry for knowledge and keen on learning. While in high school, I became more and more interested in such subjects as math, physics, and chemistry. I longed to explore much further into those areas.

Secondly, because I knew a college education would provide me with opportunities for all round development. I would play in musical groups, take part in sports, and join campus organizations. Involvement in various kinds of activities could help make me a well rounded person.

Finally, I was aware that in today's world many professions require years of specialized training. Without a college education, it would be difficult for me to obtain a desirable position.

Now I'm here at college and I seem to have more reasons to congratulate myself on my right decision.

Self-discipline is absolutely important in today’s society, especially for college students. Compared with high school students, college students are comparative free to choose what to do and how to do. However, it is such a change that requires our college students to be more self-disciplined.

Self-discipline is a key to improving ourselves. For one thing, without self-discipline, some college students would be distracted by other temptations, like playing games. To the contrary, college students will motivate themselves and learn something useful to improve their ability under self-discipline. For another, as college students are in an important period of forming characters and quality, self-discipline is indispensable for shaping them to be better. A college student who is self-disciplined will take his responsibility and try to be a better man. He will overcome laziness, greed and other temptations and focus on his way to be better. In addition, self-discipline will help him to be an estimable man in that a self-disciplined man will control himself to follow general rules or morals and avoid doing something harmful to the society and the public.

In a word, self-discipline is very important and necessary, especially for college students since they are in a crucial period that determines their worldview and sense of value.

Nowadays, more and more people like to travel in their holidays. The other day I read a report about the ways people spend their holidays.

It is reported that in recent yiars several new holiday habits have been developed. Among them, the most interesting one is the growth of the so-called holiday camps. From the report we can see that in 1990,40 percent of people stayed at home for holidays. But now the proportion has reduced to 9 percent. More people go out for fun. The proportion of camping and traveling abroad was increasing steadily, from 10 percent in 1990 to 38 percent in 2002,and 12 percent in 1990 to 26 percent in 2002 respectively. People enjoy the fresh air, clean Water and green hills when they go camping in the suburbs. In 1990,38 percent people enjoyed going to the seaside while in 2002 only 27 percent prefer to go there. What great changes!

Why did those changes appear?I think there are several reasons.

First,it's because people can afford traveling.

Second, people prefer to pursue a high-quality and colorful life.

Third, their attitudes to relaxation have changed. Less people want to save much money by leading a simple life. In short, people's living standard today has been rising greatly.

I think lots of students like the pop singer named Jay. I also like him very much. When he released his first album, I started to buy his album. And I never miss any album of his.

Do you know as a boy, Jay was called Dull Stupid. But his mother Yeh Huimei, noticed that the quiet, shy boy seemed to dance practically when he heard the Western Pop music she used to play. His mother sent him to a piano school when he was four. When he has grown up, he had developed an ability for instant playing beyond his years. I learned to play the pianofrom7 years old to 13 years old. I often feel bored when I practise playing the piano. But Jay was always crazy about playing the piano. I think he really likes music. So I admire him very much, and I call him “hero”.

I admire Jay. The real reason is when the others all denied him, he never gave up. He tried his best to change his life. I think it is good for everybody. I hope that everyone can learnfromhim---try their best to do everything. Then I think we will make the grade.

As the most important festival in China since ancient times, the Spring Festival is always being excepted by we kids. Because we dont need to do any homework during this time very really a precious holiday for us. And our parents are freefromtheir work too. We go to our grandparents to get together with them to enjoy the moment when the new year comes.

I will priciate if the holiday to be longer.

Falling in love with in college.

As it is known, when we are in high school, we all have a constant goal that is to get the entrance to college, and hard work is out of question for the following. So we gain the notice to college finally which we often dream of in the nights, which proves a proverb that the god doesn’t live up to someone who spends time and efforts, please memorize the sentence for good.

Of course one day we went to college in August or September happily and proudly, but at the same time something happened that it made your heart pounding fiercely next, by the way, that is love for many college students. And then they mithe directions and their selves as well for their lives. Next I am to exprethat I am neutral for falling in love in college, however I have some ideas to illustrate of my own.

Firstly, if you are passers-by, I think we will find a lot about several couples of boyfriends and girlfriends under the dorms or dim corners or in the classes without anybody for close postures, as youngsters, it is normal without asking cause about that.

Secondly, even worth mentioning is that many young boys and girls couldn’t attend classes and courses instead of traveling to some sceneries and sight places or doing other things only to turn out them loved each other temporarily./

Thirdly, especially to most of freshmen, please don’t be influenced by the phenomenon that a number of students who finds anther half called by them selves proudly, because I think persons are different from each other, different characters, backgrounds and aims.

But there is one point to obey if you actually want to have an attempt the feeling for love at first sight: it is , whenever you and I am, the learning and the work is the most principle rather than love is the first and work second, for we aren’t children and teenagers anymore, in the future society needs a comprehensive qualifications, profound and extensive knowledge persons, meanwhile in college you are in the state of half foot to society which time is a most important proceto exercise and experience before stepping to complicated and complex society, and therefore we are supposed to spend much time in learning instead.

During the last decade, there has been a steady rise in the number of XXX. In detail,XXXX.

Three reasons, in my mind, account for this social phenomenon. First and foremost,XXX. Moreover,XXX. In addition,XXXX. As a result,, I firmly believe that the problem derivesfromXXX. Thus, if the government make relevant policies and take relevant measure to XXX, the problem can be readily solved in XXX.

I always wanted to raise a pet, but my mother refused because I even couldn’t look after myself well. But recently, my mother changed her attitude, she bought me a lovely cat as my birthday gift. I was very happy and promised to keep it well. Since raising this lovely creature, I became patient. When I bathed her, she struggled and tried to run away, then I had to grab it back. The most important thing was to feed food on time and clean the place that the cat lived. Sometimes I felt so dirty to do it, but I had made my promise and couldn’t break my words. I learned a lotfromraising a pet. I started to consider my mother’s feelings when I became naughty. I needed to make some changes and be a better girl.

Mama, that summer,on the way to Klitsemi,my straw hat flew down the you remember, the old straw hat you gave to me ?

I lost that hat long ago, it flew to the foggy canyou. Mama,I wonder what happened to that old straw hat which fell down the mountain-said and whirled out of my reach like your heart. Suddenly that wind came up,stealing my hatfromme. Swirling gust of wind blew it higher ,and higher 鈥︹?Mama, that old straw hat was the only one I really I lost it,no one could bring it back, like tha life you give me.

Mama, that summer,on the way to Klitsemi,I lost me straw lilies along the road under that straw hat,the crickets wept every night ?

In recent years, studying abroad has been popular in our country. More and more middle school students would like to go abroad through mediators. Is it good or bad to study abroad? In my opinion, on one hand, it has some advantages. Studying abroad can provide better studying conditions. People can make rapid progress in their foreign language study and it can also help widen their field of vision. Meanwhile, young students can learn advanced science and technology from foreign countries and spread cultures of different nations.

On the other hand, it has disadvantages. For example, because of the lack of living experience and poor capability to take care of themselves, they may feel lonely and homesick. In addition, high living expenses and tuition fees will become a heavy burden upon their parents.

So I think whether studying abroad or not should be decided according to oneself and one’s family. It is not right to follow others.

Language varies from country to country. It differs not only in written and spoken language but also in gestures.

Once my American teacher, Dr. Joe Johnson, went ont shopping. He was surprlsed to find out that he couldn‘t even count on his fingers proficiently in China. He tried to buy six oranges. The orange seller couldn‘t understand his two handed counting when he showed him five left hand fingers and one right hand finger. He was also confused when a driver said he would pick him up at six o‘clock, and held his right band in a gesture familiar to himself. The gesture was not familiar as a six. It resembled a pipe.

There were no trouble with the numbers one, four, and five. In China, we show the middle and index fingers to mean two, but, for the Americans, it means victory. The Chinese guesture for three, to Americans. means _okay._ The Chinese seven is like many people from southern Europe aad the Middle East gesture to mean _money_. A Chinese eight is like a symbol for a pistol. A Chinese nine in an American TV studio means that you have thirty seconds left to finish what you are doing. And a Chinese ten, to an American, can be an expression of anger, but not if there is a pleasant Chinese face behind it!

Learning English at college is different from learning English at middle school. In middle school, we learn English mainly for the entrance examination for college, while the purpose of learning English at college is quite different. We study foreign languages now to improve our ability to work in the future and especially to communicate with foreiguers.

How can we learn English well at college? Firstly, you should try your best to enlarge your vocabulary. Only in this way can you read more smoothly and understand others well. Secondly, you should pay more attention to the listening and speaking ability in learning English. While talking with foreigners, if you can't understand them, and do not know how to express yourself, the talking will be very difficult. And the last point is that you should improve your English whenever and wherever you can.

Obviously, there is still a long way for us to go to learn English well. As a proverb says,

Never too old to learn.' There are so many methods to learn English. So long as you keep on studying, your English will surely be improved.

When you visit London, one of the first things you will see is Big Ben, the famous clock which can be heard all over the world on the . If the Houses of Parliament had not been burned down in 1834, the great clock would never have been erected. Big Ben takes its namefromSir Benjamin Hall who was responsible for the making of the clock when the new Houses of Parliament were being built. It is not only of immense size, but is extremely accurate as well. OfficialsfromGreenwich Observatory have the clock checked twice a day. On the . you can hear the clock when it is actually striking because microphones are connected to the clock tower. Big Ben has rarely gone wrong. Once, however, it failed to give the correct time.

A painter who had been working on the tower hung a pot of paint on one of the hands and slowed it down!

The discussion about electronic dictionaries has never stopped in the past few

years. Lets have a look at its advantages and disadvantages before drawing the final conclusion.

The biggest advantage of an electronic dictionary is its convenience. Whenever

you meet new words or expressions, you can know the meaning quickly. Whats more, with the development of science and technology, electronic dictionaries are becoming more and more advanced: they can pronounce the words clearly, provide sample

sentences to illustrate word usage and store difficult words for special memorization. Last but by no means the least, electronic dictionaries are becoming cheaper and cheaper, and more and more students can afford them.

However, the negative effects are also obvious. To begin with, some students

rely too much on the electronic dictionary—they never put their heart into learning new words and expressions. In the second place, some explanations are neither

complete nor accurate, which are quite misleading. Finally, new technical inventions do not necessarily lead to progress in learning. Diligence is always the decisive factor, because _there is no royal road to learning_.

Up until now, we can see it clearly that an electronic dictionary is not beneficial or harmful in itself. The key lies in the user—so long as we can make proper use of it, it can be most helpful to us in many respects.

Recently more and more educator and common citizens suggest that universities colleges open more courses which are helpful for students psychological health. Personally, I fully agree with their proposal for the following reasons.

On the one hand, the ever-increasing pressure of study at the moment and

job-hunting in the future may lead to many psychological problems such as anxiety, depression and even despair, and the psychological courses open a door for

communication and relaxation. On the other hand, such courses can teach students how to regulate feelings and emotions under different situations, which is a good preparation for the future life in the complex social network. Finally, these courses also introduce good habits which are conducive to mental and psychological health. To be mature and qualified citizens in the society, students have to do more than study hard.

In a word, I warmly welcome the establishment of psychological courses in

universities. In my mind, they are good for students psychological development.

Nowadays, star-worshiping is popular among teenagers, especially many university students.

Why? When it comes to the symptoms of worshiping a star, the main factor I’d like to mention is imitation. With a blind love for their idols, teenagers firmly believe that their choices are the best. As a result, the stars’ clothes, hairstyles and hobbies, as well as their behaviors in public, are closely observed or followed, though, to some extent, they may be considered improper or even ridiculous.

In my opinion, having idols is not a bad thing. However, we should make it clear who are the real “heroes”. As far as I am concerned, the real heroes are those who are making the most contributions to our society, such as teachers, doctors and scientists. As students, we should learn from them. Only in this way can we become useful persons in the future.

During the training, each of us did his part in earnest. We drilled more than six hours a day, though it was very hot at the time. In the blazing sun, we always tried to measure up to the high standards which were demanded . Sweat streamed down and we wouldn't wipe it off. Only three days later our faces were tanned. We felt happy and proud of it .

Our platoon officer were two young PLA man, about twenty years old. They were very strict with us during the training and very kind to us afterwards. By talking with them, we came to know not only more information about army life, but also about military affairs.

The military training gave us good discipline. It brought us great happiness, too. Well never forget it.

Our Battalion 3 Company 12 Time goes fast! We have spent the first year of our university. The new term is coming. But what we all have to face is the military training that is said to be cruel.

We students from the Department of Computer Science and Technology form the battalion 3 company have 2 general terms for the military training whose family names are respectively Chen and Han. And we have 107 students in our battalion.

The ten days’ training is cruel. And almost all of us have been turned to be the persons who are coming from the Africa. Of course, we are all worn out at the same time. But what we all insist on is that we can’t retreat with little wound. So the amount of the students in our company who escape from the training field is the smallest.

When we show respect to the leaders by raising our hands with the goose step, we all feel very sonorous.

We’ll all learn the experience by heart, for it is certainly treasure for us!

My Dream Future I decided to be a middle teacher after college. There are many reasons contribute to this decision. Firstly, when I was a little girl, I have been dreaming of being a teacher. It seemed so fascinate to me and I hope I can make my dream come true. And, I like so much to be with middle school students. Most of the students at that age are full of youthful spirity and I am sure their passion would pass to me. I will retain all the zest of adolescence. The most important reason is that our country needs plenty of teachers. So far, teaching is considered a tough and low-income job in China. However, if we have not enough teachers, our future will lack of excellent scientist, managers, businessmen, soldiers and even goood workers and farmers. How can our country to be strong and wealthy?I wish my country to be a better one. I am ready to be a teacher and hope all the persons with lofty ideals may dedicate themselves to this meaningful career. I hope my dream future will come ture!。

The love can't forget!Teacher, thank you! You be like a candle, pursuing studies to living to dedicate all lights and heat!Your character and spirit, can generalize with two words, that is the combustion! Can make the difficult incident get easy person the one who is an education. I feel grateful everything that you do profoundly. We like the teacher who you do us, we respect you, grateful you.

In wear fine festival, I want the word that teaches me how to write with the teacher, teaching my fine phrase sentence with the teacher, writing a most beautiful small poem …… for the teacher to from the bottom of the heart thank you, my child's boon teacher. Thank you to teach to my child.

Happiness of Teacher's Day! Teacher, appreciate a light for you to use the own life, illuminate the travel of my life, to you I be full of the feeling of the with gratitude.

Let I this fine wish passes the electric wave, stepping over the layer after layer high mountain, crossing surging river water, the sweep many-storied building, fly to your nearby:Wish your happiness of Teacher's Day! Dear teacher, busy a year, your festival arrived again, the student wants to say to you:Ignore when and where, you are my teacher forever!

Forrecent year, English education is booming in our country. Especially, peoplewill go to English training agent to improve their English. Yet, some peoplethink that we should go to an English country to improve our language don’t think so for we can practice English everyday with our friends.

If you learn English in domestic, then you can get little time practiceyour English and you need to take a relatively long time to improve your , if you are surrounded by English language each day, then you just needa short time to improve your English.

All in all, Learning English in an Englishspeaking country will save us time and will improve our English quickly. Ithink it is good for people to go abroad to learn English.

The university opening ceremonythe deeply impressing feelings are as much a part of me now as they were a year ago.

As the day to register and become a freshman in FDU approached, meant I was finally coming of age. Soon I would be on my own, making my own decisions and doing what I wanted without someone looking over my shoulder.

Despite months of anticipation, nothing could have prepared me for the impact of the actual thousands of new comers sitting on the broad lawn in front of the famous XiangHui Auditorium, listening to the speeches by the principal and student representatives, I felt myself consumed by a rush of both joy and nervousness. What would college be like? Would the other students like me? And what about the workwould I be able to keep up? Being a student in high school seemed to offer little assurance of my being able to survive college, especially in FDU which is abundant of excellent counterparts. Panic set had been nice being respected as a senior by the underclass students for the past year;I didn't quite enjoy the idea of being on the bottom rung of the ladder was not assured whether I wanted to grow up after all.

As if in a daze, I rose up with my new classmates around to show respect to the school song which was to be performed. As the solemn music flowed, I knew that I was hearing not just a song but the foot step of a brand new life. Exciting as the prospeet of a new life seemed, it wasn't quite easy saying goodbye to the old onethe familiar faces, the familiar routine. I would eyen miss those days when fully engaged in preparing for the college entrance exams though they were so tiring and the long commute between home and school that took me several hours each week. Good or bad, it was that I knew.

This September, I was one of the volunteers to welcome the new comers and guide them around the campus. I found the familiar mixed feelings shown on their faces. I needn't have worried about if I would like FDU, since my year here has turned out to be one of the best years of my life. Although going back to those days is impossible, it's comforting to know I can revisit my special memories any time.

Different people have different ambitions. When children study at school, they already have their own ideals. Stone want to be engineers or doctors in the future. Others want to be artists or businessmen. Still others want to be teachers or lawyers. But few want to be farmers.

Unlike most people, I choose to be a farmer in the future and make contributions to development of agriculture. Agriculture is essential to the national economy and the people's livelihood. Without it there won't be grains on which people survive. Nevertheless, farmers are ignored, even looked down upon by urban people. I determine to challenge the traditional idea and contribute to changing this situation.

However, lt is not easy to he a modern farmer in the 21st century. A modern farmer must be equipped with a variety of knowledge such as chemlstry, biology and meteorology. Therefore, I must study conscientiously from now on so that I can get the chance to study as a postgraduate in an agricultural university.

I believe only a man with scientific knowledge can meet the challenge of the 21st century and assume the task of modernizing agriculture.

In today ’s society, the Internet is playing an important role in people ’s lives. People can chat with others by QQ or MSN. Through the Internet, people can learn some news at any time. The Internet brings great benefits to the workers and students alike.

Nowadays, almost all workers need the help of the Internet, such as statistic huge data, sending e-mails and so on. For one thing, teachers don ’t necessarily need to chalk and they can teach students by showing the PPT. For another thing, if a boss would like to hold an emergency meeting when he is traveling, he can achieve his goal via the Internet video. Therefore, the Internet has brought a lot of convenience to workers.

Not only the workers but also the students benefitfromthe Internet. At present, students can acquire knowledge on education websites like and . If students have problems, they can sende-mail to their teachers or search for answersfromthe internet.

As far as I’m concerned, the Internet is of great use an d being networked is a trendin today’s society. In summary, the Internet makes people’s lifestyle more convenient and faster than before.

What they say seems radical, but in fact not radical at ail. Laughter can really bring us a lot of benefits. First, laughter has a similar effect to physical exercise. It speeds up our heart rate, increases our blood pressure and quickens our breathing. It also makes our facial and stomach muscles work. In fact, it is a kind of _jogging_ on the spot. Next, laughter is a kind of pain relief. When we laugh, we produce a kind of chemical materials in our body that helps us to relieve pain. In addition, laughter stimulates our immune system, preventing us from being infected by diseases. Third, laughter improves our state of mind and affects our entire physical well beings. Laughter helps us feel healthy and alive. Each time we laugh, we feel better and more content. Finally, laughter helps to ease the tension between people. Sometimes when people are going to quarrel with each other for one reason or another, a humorous remark leading to laughter can help settle the argument.

Everyone have a daily schedule. Most of people changes it every day, the others keep the same one every week. Actually, I have a regular weekly schedule.

Monday is one of the most important days in a week. I think I always make a weekly schedule at first, which is a good way to plan my life. For example: Last week on Mondayfrom8:00am to 3:40pm, which time was finishing my school class. After that, I would take a nap until 4:45pm. Then, I went to library to learn English, of course, The DynEd Courseware. It’s not good for my health that I don’t have enough time to have dinner. Between 10:00pm and 11:00pm, I practiced my body in the gymnastic because I want to lose weight. I usually go to bed at 12: play the computer game once a week on Friday evening with my friend. One week’s work make me tired, so it’s a special time for me to have a rest. This is my daily routinefromlast week, include five work days.

Saturday and Sunday are differentfromother five days. Because I have a lot of classes, such as: karate class in Shichahai and English class in soho high street. Just I think it is more useful for me than my school class. Keep practice my body and brain are the most important things on the weekend. Usually, I finish my English work in the morning and work out in the evening. I like my life plan is very regular, which is good for my healthy. But I don’t have enough time to take a rest, maybe sometimes I feel tired. Keep doing, I will get benefitsfrommy schedule.

All of this is my weekly schedule, my daily routine same as everyday. It ’s very interesting, my schedule make me look like an old man. Believe it or not, I will never give up and try my best to achieve my dream.

Compared with the forty year old shabby dormitory I am living in now, the one I lived in for three years in high school was heaven: three students shared one brand new suite with air conditioners and a bathroom.

In three years time we changed it thoroughly:the color of the floor turned from bright pink into muddy gray, and the closet a hive of insects proliferating among piles of rotten our masterpiece was the bathroom, a never drying swamp which served as the habitat of various kinds of mold, and even rodents, rats would occasionally take the trouble to pay us a visit, and.., all three of us felt like sobbing when we at last had to say good bye to our lovely filthy dormitory. Maybe it is because that the dormitory had changed us as well as we'd changed it.

The first lesson our dormitory taught us was to look after ourselves. Frankly speaking, we were not good students at all. I still remember the underwear that was soaked in soapy water for one and a half years before it was finally thrown away. Almost each of the boys' dormitories had gradually developed its own unique _fragrance_ usually a mixture of rotten fruit, unwashed socks, stunk towels and some junk food. We could tell one dormitory from another by sniffing instead of looking. Our tolerance towards untidiness was amazing.

However, in spite of all this, we really did make some progress. Bit by bit, we started to wash dirty clothes before they stunk, cleaned the garbage bin when it could hold no more trash, we even used brushes in a not-sc-successful attempt to refurbish the floor. The point was that we were not obeying any order, we did every bit of the cleaning for ourselves, because we wanted to live in a better place. Though nothing we did could be called an achievement, it was the first time we fully bore the consequences of our behavior, and took the responsibility.

Thus it was not surprising that I often found myself the only one to clean up my university dormitory which looked no better than a garbage bin when my roommates felt normal of it.

When talking about our dormitory life, and probably all the dormitory life, we should never leave out one thing. This was what we called _bed talks_. Though it was considered _illegal,_there was nothing to stop us from deliberately starting a heated discussion right after lights were out. It was our favorite and the only way of ending our day, and we were as punctual for it as our parents are for work. What was the most common topic?Girls, of course! What other topics were there for three energetic adolescent males lying comfortably in bed? We judged them, ranked them, argued over them night after night without feeling the slightest sense of boredom for three whole years. Were we

maniacs? Who is not a maniac at eighteen?

The first time in life? Then grasp your chance with your perfect performance on the dating night, by learning the following principle in heart.

Dress properly. While everyone wants to give an impressive debut on the first date, you should avoid wearing something too bizarre to be accepted. If you are still in school, a sportswear can fulfill your purpose. For businessman or grownups, casual clothes are recommended. Never put up your working uniforms,no matter how well you like that Armani suit. It is no work. A few accessories such as a pair of sunglasses or silver loops on the wrist can add up to the romance sphere.

Take a bath before dating. And if you like, spray alittle perfume, but unless you're sure that he or she likes the smell, don't use ones that are too strong.

Watch your manner. You're no prince of the Scotland nor Cinderella in the legend. Proper manners will ensure a lasting relationship while bad ones scare away your sweetheart. And do make sure you do not boast about your fortune, for, not everyone are green addicts. And your way of smiling, or your greatestoath, should neither be _coy_ nor _by St. Loy!_ after the nun in Chaucer.

Be a little sensitive than merely innocent. Do make sure you do not intrude his or her privacy on the first date. For

it is impossible to keep in good health unless we have sufficient recreation. the mind, too, needs rest to keep alert and vigorous. there is a lot of truth in the old saying, _all work and no play makes jack a dull boy._

there are many games which we can play after our work is done. but it's always advisable for people to remember that persons who sit much should take up sports or a kind of recreation that requires muscular eercise. those who spend most of their time in the open air and have constant muscular labor, however, should adopt reading or some other quiet forms of recreation that will give them some physical rest.

cycling is said to be a capital means of some people foolishly ehaust themselves by ecessive eertion on the bike. the same may be said in regard to football. tennis is a great form of recreation. fishing requires much patience, but there is the risk of catching cold by prolonged eposure. a good brisk walk is one of the finest forms of eercise. for persons engaged in outdoor labor, chess playing is an ecellent change.

Asked about which symbol can represent ones identity, the first answer occurring to most people, I believe, should be their names. Bingo! Every single person owns a particular name, which uniquely refers to this inpidual. Name is such an essential part of personal life that it is deliberately considered by parents or grandparents even before his/her birth. Moreover, the name will be with person for a whole life, widely used under any situation, such as filling in registration forms, or a topic of conversations, to name just a few.

However, some people hold different views regarding the necessity of names. They argue that name is no more than an arbitrary symbol. Also, they believe that the good wishes the names express to the person are merely imagination. In this sense, they dont think names are of any great importance.

As far as I am concerned, owning a name is good for the orderly organization of our society. Also, names indicate the long history and culture and express our good wishes for our life and future.

Failure is a common thing in ones life. Almost everyone experiences failure in his life. When one fails in his attempt in doing something, he often feels upset. Some people may yield to failure and flinch from it. But others will stick to and achieve the final success.

Success is what everyone expects. It may lead to fame and glory. When one succeeds in doing something, he gets so excited that he often neglects all theun successful at tempts he has done.

As the old saying goes, _Failure teaches success._ It is true that failure is an important factor toward success. The way to success is full of various difficulties and obstacles. Many important inventions or discoveries were achieved after hundreds of failure. And only those successes which have been achieved after many failures are really valuable and praiseworthy.

At an age of character and inpiduality being encouraged anddemonstrated, we see various “stars” pop up—singing stars, dancing stars, movie stars and sport stars, etc. Many schools even hold contests to choose their “Campus Stars”. Although these activities make our cultural life on campus more colorful and varied, a lot of problems spring up at the same time.

First of all, these activities can result in the swelling of vanity in some students, making them become arrogant, or even feel superior to other students. Moreover, these activities can greatly distract the studentsfromtheir study. In order to become a star, they will, without any doubt, spenda lot of time and energy on the preparation andcompetition. The focus of their academic life will be shifted, and even worse, they can become too enthusiastic about extracurricular activities and hate the academic knowledge and skills they need to grasp for their future development.

On the whole, I think these various “Campus Star” contests should be controlled on the campus. After all, schools are differentfromany other social institutions. Extracurricular activities should beencouraged, but they should be helpful to the students academic study and all-round development.

Will Christmas Replace the Spring Festival

Christmas arouses increasing attention year by year in China. Christmas cards become popular with students. People hold Christmas parties and exchange Christmas girts. A lot or TV and radio programs about Christmas are on. Meanwhile the Spring Festival is leappealing (有吸引力的)to youngsters. Thus some people wonder whether Christmas will replace the Spring Festival.

This worry is fairly unnecessary. Why ? One reason lies that Christmas only affects Christians, college students and joint-venture (合资企业)workers. Another reason is that Christmas is mostly celebrated in cities. Few people in countryside show extreme interest in this exotic(带有异国情调的) festival. By contrast, the Spring Festival is the most influential traditional festival in every family.

I think,it is natural that with increasing exchanges with the West,a lot of Western holidays have been gradually introduced into China. For us Chinese we should never neglect or even discard our own traditional festivals. For centuries Chinese have observed this traditional holiday to welcome the beginning of a new year. And we will treasure the Spring Festival forever.

First of all, many employers find that most students have nothing working experience concerning with their major. As students’ main job in school is study, employer should not make too high requirement to them actually. But students should have an internship before entering the society or at least have a concept about the job related to their specialized subject. Most students know nothing except the textbook, which makes them feel hard to get start. What’s worse, some graduates don’t learn well in school. They neither have experience nor master the the cortical knowledge. In addition, the majority of students are the little prince and princess at home. They haven’t suffered any hardship with the protection of their parents. As a result, they can’t endure hardship or easily give up when meeting difficulties.

To summarize, the graduates should try their best to improve themselves to get out the embarrassing situation of finding jobs. That also makes recruiting much more smoothly. I firmly believe this situation will be better in the future.

Everybody wants to lead a successful life. But a number of people failed to realize their ambitions or their personal goals though they had dreamed of it throughout their whole lives. In order to succeed, one is required to have such personal qualities as diligence, persistence, intelligence, patience and so on. Besides them, I hold adversity is also one of the key factors and that it often leads to prosperity.

The seemingly mistaken conclusion reveals the common phcnomenon, People in adversity tend to express their full range of potential and actualize their own personal worth

the very aim of a human life. And it is also supported by lots of successful people's experiences both in old days and nowadays, both at home and abroad.

During the Period of Chunqiu, the Emperor of the Yue,Gou Jian, was defeated by the Wu and trapped in prison. Adversity stimulated him to revenge instead of discouraged him. Gou Jian hanged a gall and tasted it before sleep every day so as to keep the humiliation and revenge always in mind. Owing to his undefeated qualities and persistent struggle, he defeated the Wu and drew himself from adversity to prosperity in the end.

David Beckham, the captain of the English Soccer Team, was famous for his fascinating technique as well as his handsome appearance. He led England to defeat Argentina as a national revenge in the latest Korea Japan World Cup and he was regarded to be one of the five greatest football players in the world by Brazilian football star Robert Carlos.

However, ten years ago, he was only an ordinary young player and was put in the second team of Man Utd.

Once he was even lent to another team in English A by Ferguson and it seemed that he would be abandoned as burden of his club someday. Beckham was not defeated by all the difficulties and he was sensible enough to make full use of adversity as an agent to push himself forward. He studied the combat, increased his stamina and strength, improved the technique and dribbling and trained the skill of passing and free kicking. As a result of his persistent and painstaking training, beginning with the famous wonderful goal from the centre circle in 1996, he brought himself a hot prospect.

University, a place that people yearn for. There have their own space and time, after school can be the light of heart from care and your love shopping, can boldly go hand in hand to see the teacher also satisfied a smile in the campus, you can sleep in the class is not afraid of being punished teacher, can occasionally to the Internet in the dormitory, so the fairys life can not worth we yearn for it? The university is simply a human being.

I am envious when I hear such a student life, because I also yearn for this kind of life. Happy days came at last, and I jumped into my long - worshipped college life like a rabbit. Unfortunately, I was not there to find happiness, more disappointed and confused about life. A day may be one or two classes, no homework, no sooner or later self study. Twelve years of draconous and stressful life suddenly changed, like a tight rubber band that suddenly loosened. The result of such a sudden relaxation is to get up at night in the daytime, to accept the radiation of the computer and not to ask the teachers star knowledge. This kind of life is free, but how long can it persist? Enter the university are ambitious, in order to find a good job, but now lost to this temptation......

Im just a freshman, I know a lot in this year, and I have learned a lot of things that I dont have in many books. Dont be addicted to the immortal life of the University. University is a good platform for development. Just because everyone is obsessed with this kind of life, students who study hard a little bit will have a good future. The life of the university is not easy, even more pressure than the pressure of high school life. Why do you say that? If universities want to realize their dreams, they cant relax themselves and enhance their self-control ability. When other students go online, they should stay in the study room or study in the library when they go shopping. And the university is also half a society, to have its own interpersonal relationship, and to speak the corresponding responsibility. If what position in the school, but also for the appreciation of their own to do some _small abacus._ The parents who go to school are not around, and some things have to learn to take their own ideas. Like a flower growing in a greenhouse, it is now suddenly taken away to go through the baptism of rain and rain.

So, easy and comfortable college life is that those who have no pursuit will say it. I hope all of our college students are in the pursuit of the ideal road not to stand in the sight of the spectacle and forget where they are going.

The urban traffic is getting increasingly crowded nowadays in China. The roads are pakced with cars, bicylces and pedestrians and traffic jams, bus delays and traffic accidents are a common scene.

Then how to solve this problem? Some suggest to lay down more roads to make the traffic less crowded and speed up the flow of traffic. Others believe that we should open up more public bus routes, so that more people will take the public buses instead of travelling by cars and bicycles.

Though above two views sound reasonable, they have their own drawbacks. The fomer may take up much land which could be used for farms and houses. The latter may cause inconvenience for those who are used to travelling by car or bicycles. I think the best answer to the traffic problem is a combination of the two. More roads can be built to hold more traffic and meanwhile more public bus routes can be opened up to those who prefer to use the public transportation.

Dear Jenny,

How is your survey on mobile payment going? I’m glad I can help with it.

It is generally believed that China is the largest mobile payment market. Nowhere else is the cashless trendmore obvious than in China. Most of us are used to paying by scanning QR codes whatever we buy—books, clothes, and electronic devices, to name a few, which is a glimpse into the life of most Chinese like me and my family.

With the widespread use of mobile payment, Wechat or Alipay is the most convenient and safest way to pay. We rarely need to carry a wallet or cash at all. Besides, never will we worry about getting fake notes or having to count change. In short, mobile payment has greatly changed peoples life in China.

Personally, I think mobile payment should be encouraged. First, it has won over consumers with its convenience. Another advantage is that there are often discounts if you make mobile payment, as major online payment platforms are competing to have more consumers use their service.

I hope my explanation can be of some help to you. Wish you good luck.

Yours faithfully,

Li Hua

Urbanization has been a subject of heated discussion for a long time. Some people are in favor, while others are opposed. In my opinion, urbanization has both advantages and disadvantages.

Generally, the advantages of urbanization can be listed as follows. First, urbanization can quicken our pace to catch up with the developed countries. We all know that the developed countries are all highly urbanized. Second, urbanization will help to solve the problem of unemployment. It will create more job opportunities for the unemployed. In addition, urbanization will free a great number of farmers from the fields, thus realizing the dream of agricultural mechanization in our country. Finally, urbanization can improve the standards of living of the migrants who move to the urban area.

However, the disadvantages of urbanization are also obvious. To begin with, administration of the increasing population in urban area might be a great challenge to the government. Moreover, more problems, such as increasing crime rate, over crowding, might increase, since more people are concentrated in a relatively smaller place.

It is evident that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. Therefore, I am in favor of urbanization.

Several months ago, a good news swept on China that Mo Yan won the2012Nobel Prize for literature. After this big event, Mo Yan, the first Chinese resident to win the prize, has been the crispy fried chicken among China. Gaomi County in Shandong Province becomes a tourist attraction because of his popularity. For his award, Chinese media overwhelming report this exciting news. People are rushing to the bookstores to buy his famous book and some are even out of stock.

Generally speaking, his award means a lot to China, especially Chinese literature. The Nobel Prize for literature is a dream of Chinese literary field and all Chinese people. However, as a large cultural country that owns countless classic works, China had no winner of the Nobel Prize for literature which had become a great pity. Therefore, this prize finishes a pile wish of Chinese people. In addition, although we have a great number of great works, very few people can read a book carefully and tranquilly in the impetuous society. I think this exciting news will inspire people’s enthusiasm towards literature, which is a great motivation to the development of literature. This is what we are happy to see.
